Until almost 20 years ago the library’s collection of works of C.P.E. Bach was one of the largest and most important in the world. With the discovery of Singakademie archives in Kiev and their return to Berlin many autograph manuscripts of works which were previously only held in Brussels were rediscovered. Nevertheless the library’s collection is still valuable for performance practice and musicological reasons. Some manuscripts are still the only copies such as the two sonatas for viola da gamba and continuo.
