The Muizelhuis in figures

For 25 years, the Muizelhuis was a unique initiative in the Flemish music world. From 1985 till 2007, this private cultural institution was recognized by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finance from whom the Muizelhuis received subsidies. The combination of high cost and small scale eventually became difficult to achieve and in 2009 the non-profit organization decided to cease operations. The very last concert in the Muizelhuis took place on Saturday 27 December 2009.

What Muizelhuis has accomplished in those 25 years, is impressive:

  •  189 house concerts with 277 different musicians
  •  9 chamber music performances
  •  25 occasional exhibitions
  •  1 TV concert, broadcast in 1989
  •  11 codas, a short musical intervention at the end of the late news in 1989
  •  Appearance in the program “Watching Houses” on TV1
  •  Numerous captures of house concerts on the classical Flemish radio “Radio 3”.
  •  Participation in Tenuto music competitions
  •  12 editions of the biannual Composition Competition for Chamber Music for young composers
  •  4 participations in Open Monument Day in 1989, 1990, 1994 and 1998
  •  12 CD releases
  •  277 musicians were given a chance in the Muizelhuis
